Mail RhubarbSite Help   International Review   Update

To all Image Makers,

We are currently reconfiguring and thinking of better ways of bringing image makers an event that will benefit them like the International Review and bring more for less. With this in mind, we will not be holding the International Review in 2011, so keep an eye out for something different this year.

Thank you for your continuing support,
The Rhubarb Team

The Rhubarb Team would like to thank all Reviewers, Photographers, Volunteers, Guests and friends of Rhubarb for another successful Rhubarb International Review!

Collision: Where Image Worlds Meet

This year Rhubarb have decided to explore the cross over between fine art, documentary and commercial photography. We all refer to photography in genres, we categorise and delineate, but what happens when image worlds collide?

Images shot for documentary purposes can end up hanging on gallery walls, or a fine art project can be used for advertising and selling products. This may be obvious but leads to some fascinating hybrids which for some is confusing but to others an opportunity to create a niche market beyond their usual practice.

Collision: Where Image Worlds Meet is a series of events offering photographers and reviewers the opportunity to present and look at work that spans the different genres.

The International Review at Aston Business School in Birmingham, UK has a mixture of reviewers from advertising, fine art and commercial backgrounds. Rhubarb is not only trying to encourage photographers of various practice to come to the review, but also give them a chance to put work in front of reviewers that maybe wouldn't normally see it. The reviewers are also encouraged to look at work from other practices.

If you're a graduate, third year student or early-career photographer, please see the section on Cultivate, designed to prepare you for the International Review at a time when you will be ready for the rigours of the fine art photography marketplace and so gain the best value for money from the appropriate event at the relevant stage in your development.
