I've had several opportunities to show my works on the world via Rhubarb. In Fotofest recently, I had a group exhibition which was titled "International Discoveries". And then one show was in China which was in LIPF07. Rhubarb photo festival gave me that kind of good opportunities.

Bae Chan-Hyo, Attendant 2007

Duan Yuting, Curator for Lianzhou, wanted to organise Korean contemporary exhibition in LIPF 2007 and invite 4 Korean photographers (this time total 5 Korean photograhers showing in LIPF) from Rhubarb. She selected Chanhyo Bae, Ayoung Kim, Mijeoung Baek and my photographs at the Rhubarb. Rhubarb festival is one of the influential photo festivals and hub to be internationally visible. Thank you for organising.

Han Sungpil, Attendant 2007

Rhubarb Rhubarb has been an amazing catalyst for my Fine Art photographic career. I can’t recommend it highly enough for any photographer trying to make their way. It has brought many opportunities which includes print sales, publication, representation and exhibitions. It has allowed me to cultivate relationships with curators and collectors on an international scale. Most recently this has led to a solo show as an international artist in Lianzhou China. I first met the festival director in 2005 when she signalled how much she liked my work. I met her again at Rhubarb this year at something called The Promenade and a week or so after she contacted me with a view to showing my work in LIPF. I cannot speak highly enough of the Rhubarb team and the support and opportunities that have come my way as a result of the network they facilitate. It can be a lonely old freelance world out there and having Rhubarb to support and nurture photographers is simply invaluable.

Elaine Duigenane, Attendant 2007

I wouldn't have been given this opportunity (LIPF 07) if it hadn't been for the RR-/Review. So for me I would say that RR attracts influential curators from all over the world. People whom can make a difference for the participants. As a matter of fact I have just been offered to exhibit at LODZ festival in Poland next year, and I met Krzysztof Candrowicz at RR this summer. To me the RR-Festival is so well organized that I believe the reviewers are happy to be part of it, the atmosphere certainly is down to earth and good for the participants as my self. Another very important factor for us is that we meet so many other artist, exchanging ideas, looking at each others work, in fact we have made many new friends from all over the world, through coming here. RR review is a special and important place for this.

Catherine Cameron, Attendant 2007

Recently the work of one of the photographers who came to me during the review was published in the best cultural magazine of Greece "Highlights". I'm writing to let you know that I managed to include another Rhubarb reviewee in Highlights magazine! The article is 6 pages long and I noted at the end of the feature that: "... the meeting with the photographer Nicola Dove took place during the international photo review Rhubarb-Rhubarb in Birmingham, England". I also included your site. I thought you might find this interesting and helpful. We're going to publish in our next issue the work of Lyndsay Martin, I'm glad my editor agreed because I really found her work very interesting.

Joanna Vasdeki, Highlights Magazine Greece, Reviewer 2007

Please find attached a pdf of the publication produced for my upcoming exhibition, Observance, at Pataka Museum and Gallery in New Zealand. The show opens next week and runs through until mid March. Observance will also be exhibiting at the Lianzhou International Photo festival in China in December. In September a selection of the work featured in this years Noorderlicht Festival.

Nicola Dove, Attendant 2007

We have an International Discoveries show that we just opened and one of the nine featured artists is Chan -Hyo Bae that we found at Rhubarb 2007. We always find good work there!

Wendy Watriss, Fotofest Houston, Reviewer 2007

I am very pleased to let you know that we came across the excellent works of Chino Otsuka and Liv Pennington through Rhubarb-Rhubarb, so without you and your co-workers this show wouldn't have been possible. Thank you so much! The exhibition period is 3 June - 26 Aug 2007. The show will focus on the notions of representation/identity/portrait. It will be an extraordinary show, and these first time that these young UK based artists are exhibited at a Scandinavian museum.

I just wanted to send you an announcement for my upcoming show at Nicole Fiacco Gallery in Hudson NY that opens on Sat. June 9. Some good new is that Stephen Bulger who purchased my print at last year's auction has taken on my work at his galery in Toronto, plus in addition to Nicole's gallery I have another one at Wallsapce in Seattle WA. So things keep moving ahead...

Cynthia Grieg, Attendant 2006

After attending in 2005 and 2006 I have had ongoing communications with many of my reviewers. I was exhibited as part of a group show ‘Family Album’ at CPW and I was one of the winners of the Magenta Emerging Photographers Competition. I have been included in the Trace Edition. Bruno Ceschel referred to my work in The Rhubarb article in BJP this year and I have since kept in contact. Going to Rhubarb has been a great help for me in both getting opinions on my work and raising awareness of it. It has also provided me with some great contacts that would otherwise be a lot harder to come by. Thanks!

Spencer Murphy, Attendant 2006

The artist Fred LeBain, whom I met at Rhubarb, will be having a show at ClampArt in 2007. I also purchased work by the artist Steven Miller, at Rhubarb, and displayed it in my gallery in New York in the fall of 2006.

Brian Clamp, ClampArt New York, Reviewer 2006

I have just launched another issue of Lens Culture -- this one featuring three people I met at Rhubarb-Rhubarb. An audio interview with John Blakemore is my favorite, and this issue also features work by Vee Speers and Elaine Duigenan. More Rhubarb participants will follow in subsequent issues.

There are couple of outcomes after Rhubarb, my work has been invited by the fotografie forum international, Frankfurt, Germany,2005; Fotofest 2006, Houston, USA, 2006. It was very good time to see many people in Rhubarb and I have recieved many good responses as well.

Hyung Geun Park, Attendant 2005

This year's Rhubarb was brilliant for me. Apart from your amazing team, the reviewers were wonderful. I enrolled at the last minute, so my choices were limited, but I nevertheless have had some good things come out of it. Blake Fitch invited me in to a show at the Griffin Museum in January, a retrospective of the Nude, and I have 7 Fresson prints in that show. She and I are now firm friends. I also met Jim casper from LensCulture, who lives in Paris too, and with whom i have become close friends. I am currently showing with Lens Culture, and as he is the fastest-growing on-line magazine at the moment, I feel very fortunate to have met him. Thank you again to everyone.

Vee Speers, Attendant 2005

I had a solo exhibition in Goethe Institute, Frankfurt from 13 Oct to 16 Dec 2005. Celina Lusford curated my solo exhibition. I met her at Rhubarb-Rhubarb in 2003 I will have a meeting with director of Birmingham Museum in Jan 2006. Pete James arranged the meeting because he was so interested in my work.

Han Sungpil, Attendant 2005

Kathy Aron Dowell at The Society for Contemporary Photography, chose four shots from my series “uncanny likeness” to be shown as part of her inaugural exhibition, in her rather splendid new gallery. So there is life after Rhubarb, I just want to thank you for all your support and help.

Matthew Barlow, Attendant 2005

In terms of opportunities arising from R-R, I had several interested offers and possibilities, Stock libraries, USA contacts, Photographers Gallery, Trolley books. All of these need me to focus on a specific area of work that

Tim Brown, Attendant 2005

I met some wonderful people and got a great response to my new work from Russia, including an interesting magazine spread to be published in Magenta Magazine through MaryAnn Camilleri. More importantly, I might also have a book deal. Nothing signed in ink yet but I'll keep you posted in the New Year. Note: Simon's book Motherland was published by Chris Boot in 2007.

Simon Roberts, Attendant 2005

During the reviews I gained a lot of insight into where I was as a photographic artist and the areas in which I need to work on,which have been invaluable. I had a review with Sian Bonnell who is during 2006 going to be my mentor for the year to help me develop the themes and concepts within my photographic work. The mentorship will take place in my studio at The Crescent Arts Gallery in Scarborough and have successfully obtained an award of £4500 from Arts Council England for the mentorship and materials/research costs.

Julia Gatie, Attendant 2005

Because of my review with Ute Noll my work "Relative" was published in Frankfurter Rundschau and also curated as part of a group exhibition 'Autobiography' in Darmstadt Germany 'Darmstadter Tage Der Fotografie 2006' I have also been chosen as one of Magentas emerging photographers competition 2006 winners because of the efforts of Rhubarb to keep me informed.

Spencer Murphy, Attendant 2005

Here is the summary of outcomes from people I saw in 2004 and 2005. Basically, I developed a theme and curated a show from seeing Marcus Haydock and Andrew Scott's work, sensing strong links between them that reflected a personal area of research I was exploring. I wanted to have three artists in the show - all at the early stages of their careers - and it took a year for a third one to materialise. Although I was looking at photographers through various avenues, it was at Rhubarb 2005 that I saw Nicola Dove's work in progress and felt that she made a good bridge between the other two artists. The resulting exhibition, Subtle Bodies, has been running from 24 March until 13 May 2006.

Catherine Williams, Photofusion UK, Reviewer 2005

as a result of meeting reviewer Anna Douglas at Rhubarb Rhubarb last year I am participating in her exhibition Alchemy, opening at Harewood House, Yorkshire in July. I sought her out on the strength of her biog. advertising that she was working on a show of non-traditional photographic artists, so I think those 'wants lists' are particularly useful if they're specific enough. I also had work considered (but finally not selected) for Fotofest, so I'm quite pleased with my one afternoon first exposure to Rhubarb Rhubarb. Sadly can't come this year, but keep up the good work.

Simon Warner, Attendant 2005

I saw a bunch of people at Rhubarb 2005: BEATE CEGIELSKA (denmark) - exhibition in August 2006 at Galleri (arhus) GUNILLA MUHR (sweden)- group exhibition in Feb 2006 at Centrum for Fotografie (stockholm). DEBORAH KLOMP - screening at INTERMIX in conjunction with International Film Festival in Leeds 05. JOHAN SJOSTROM -(sweden) group exhibition in Feb 2006 at Bildmuseet (Umea) UTE NOLL (germany) - publication in Frankfurter Rundshau (Feb) UTE NOLL (germany - group exhibition in Darmstadt Day of Photography, Germany (April).

Natalie Latham, Attendant 2005

Just wanted to let you know that as a direct result of the portfolio reviews days at Rhubarb, I have a solo exhibition in Denmark at Galleri Image next year and I also have a one page article appearing the current issue of Photo Technik International. So thank you Rhubarb!

Michelle Lord, Bursary winner 2004

My first Rhubarb result of a show in UK which went totally beyond my expectations, was at TRACE. Sian Bonnell organised an amazing panel discussion with Chris Coppock and Jim Knight (MP) looking at the various layers and perspectives of the work. It was a remarkable event according to many of those who came, including myself. So, THANK YOU for creating the possibility!! If you want more to the success story - TRACE organised a double spread of the photos with text promoting the exhibition in PLUK magazine (photo london UK). A double spread in Ute Noll's magazine, Frankfurt Rundshau of the same series. (Also a video piece of mine was presented at the EXTREMES exhibition Ute curated).

Nathalie Latham, Attendant 2004

I wanted to let you know that Eyemazing is publishing a portfolio of my Pool series in their March issue. And then Next Level on the White series. Thank you again for introducing me and my work to them.

Just to let you know that, as a result of having my work reviewed by P Elaine Sharpe at last years rhubarb, she has recently published some of my stuff in Dislocation magazine, and is including a couple of pictures in a show she is curating in Toronto. The whole process has been very enjoyable and rewarding. Also as a result of rhubarb, I am showing my SeaChange” at David Kampfner’s SS Robin Gallery in July 05

Tony Hopewell, Attendant 2004

By the way, I am publishing four Korean photographers I met at Rhubarb 2004 in the next issue.

Gloria Chalmers, Editor Portfolio UK, Reviewer 2004

I thought it would be useful for you to know that as a result of a portfolio viewing at Rhubarb last year, Belfast Exposed will exhibit and publish work by Scottish photographer Catriona Grant. The show opens on 28 April and runs until 10 June 05. I met Michelle Sank at Rhubarb, as did Chris (a few years earlier) so yes, I guess you could call it a match made in Rhubarb! For your interest, I am hoping to work with a number of photographers that I met at Rhubarb this year, namely Robert Harding Pittman, Charles Traub and Anthony Luvera. So fingers crossed for funding, I’ll keep you posted.

Karen Downey, Belfast Exposed Photography, Reviewer 2004

In January (2006) we'll be doing a show by Rhubarber Naglaa Walker at Blue Sky Gallery. Our other exhibition that month is by Jules Greenberg, who is another Rhubarber if I remember right.

Chris Rauschenberg, Blue Sky Gallery USA, Reviewer 2004

Marjolaine Ryley will be showing in Toronto at the Harbourfront Centre. (Same location as Naglaa Walker). Just thought I'd let you know in case Rhubarb keeps track of the success stories for participants & reviewers!

Jennifer Long, Gallery 44 Canada, Reviewer 2004

First of all I want to thank you and your team for putting together Rhubarb Rhubarb, such an inspiring, well organized and intense event. It was lots of fun too, because everybody seems to be at ease even when things get hectic. One of my reviewers at Rhubarb Rhubarb 2007 was Krzysztof Candrowicz. He selected my work for the main programme at Fotofestiwal Lodz this year and I will be showing "City of Ambition" from May 13 to 31 as one of nine international artists. The wrong information in Paul Halliday's profile stating that he wanted to see only UK-based artists could not prevent me from getting a show at Photofusion, London this summer (August 1 to September 27) ;-) I met Paul unexpectedly during Portfolio Promenade where he was directed to my table by referrals from other reviewers. I made other great contacts during the event but it's too early to talk. Please keep up the great work. I am definitely looking forward to be back to Birmingham.

Ferit Kuyas, Attendant 2007

3 WINNERS OF LENS CULTURE - RHUBARB 2008 PHOTO BOOK AWARDS Competition was tough for our first Lens Culture - Rhubarb Photo Book Awards. More than 40 finalists were proposed by the reviewers over the course of the 3 day portfolio review sessions. (There was a lot of good work being shown at Rhubarb-Rhubarb this year!) Ultimately three photographers rose to the top with lots of kudos from lots of reviewers. This year's winners are: Kurt Tong, China/UK Mimi Youn, Korea/UK Nigel Dickenson, France Lens Culture will present a portfolio from each photographer very soon, and then when they have designed and published their new photo books at Blurb.com, we will have reviews of those, here, as well. Anthony Crossfield and Odette England are both having their work shown in a group exhibition at KLOMPCHING GALLERY. Visual Morphology is an exhibition that explores the different methodologies being used by artists in the construction of a photograph. This group exhibition brings to our attention the act of looking and the concept of the 'photograph' itself. Time, memory, visual perception, construction and artifact, are each addressed across a range of creative processes employed. The artists in Visual Morphology are brought together from Australia, Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom and United States. There will be an opening reception with the artists on Thursday March 5th, 6pm—8pm, in conjunction with the DUMBO 1st Thursdays Gallery Walk.

ANTONY CROSSFIELD and ODETTE ENGLAND, attendants 2008

Toby Smith, who attended Rhubarb in 2008, has an exhibition running from the 13th-24th of Feb at Tenderpixel Gallery in London. As well as his current exhibition, Toby has had interest in his 'Light After Dark' folio from Getty. Toby felt attending Rhubarb had really helped tighten his project and raise his confidence. Speaking of Rhubarb he said: "I attended Rhubarb Rhubarb photography festival, with purely the Light After Dark folio. After 20 folio reviews this gave me an even more considered edit, and importantly the ordering of the work and the confidence and also know who to show it to next." Toby Smith, Attendant 2008

Thought you'd like to know about exhibitions I've obtained as a result of attending Rhubarb portfolio reviews in 2006, 2007 and 2008. Chris Rauschenberg saw my work in 2006, and that resulted in an exhibition at the Blue Sky Gallery in Portland, Oregon in May this year. And last year I showed my work to Ingrid Fischer Jonge and that has produced the offer of an exhibition this October as part of the FotoTriennale.dk festival in Denmark.

Michael Marten, Attendant 2006, 2007 and 2008
