This course led by Mark Wood who has nearly 20 years of teaching experience, is aimed at up and coming photographers making the transition between post graduate and the professional market, who need to know how to use Photoshop for image retouching and enhancement to a high standard for professional output. Delegates will learn how to use Photoshop as an effective workflow solution from capture through to print. Starting with the benefits of capturing images in RAW versus JPEG. Moving on to the principles of good cataloguing and file back-up. Understanding the importance of the digital darkroom so that images on screen will print accurately. The course will show delegates how to use Photoshop quickly and efficiently to maximize their workflow. The course will be split into two areas 1.cataloguing and the digital darkroom and 2.preparing an image for publication. There are a maximum of 10 delegates per course allowing for plenty of contact time with the tutor. The course is run on either Windows operating system or Apple Mac, with each delegate having their own machine to use.

Prerequisites
Basic IT and Windows/OSX skills, and a basic understanding of photography.

• Making selective adjustments to photographs using Adjustment Layers: Levels, Curves, Colour Balance and Hue & Saturation
• Removing blemishes and marks using the Clone Stamp and Healing Brush
• Converting colour to monochrome
• Making photographs ready for print – Soft Proofing
• Cropping, sizing and sharpening images for photo-lab printing, inkjet or litho
