About Rhubarb Projects Growing much larger than the annual Festival, Rhubarb-Rhubarb has a portfolio of events throughout the year which support our reputation as a company which recognises the breadth of opportunity within the fine art photographic sector. And also recognises that photographers require constant profiling and skill building, across a range of potential for opportunity and exhibitions. Last year was our first adventure in staging an international show, in collaboration with Arts Council England, UK Trade and Investment, Hewlett Packard and Les Rencontres D’Arles. It was an extraordinary success – see notes on Luminous. Nearer to home we’ve been out and about looking at portfolios in the region, adding to the work shown on the Rhubarb Farm and mentoring our Creative Alliance trainees with the help of some of the most informed talking heads from the fine art photography sector. And just begun our wonderful 'For Sale' project, or what the Daily Telegraph called ‘intelligent art’ – click here to visit the Farm and wonder at the audacity of it. In between visiting other Festivals to revue work, the boss has been collaborating with German photographer Claudio Hils, on 'New Building Works', a book to commemorate the opening of the new wing of Wolverhampton Art Gallery. Wilson got to write the essay, as part of her ongoing relationship with issues of image and regeneration. We heard that she and Hils, and his sister and brother in law, ended up photographing the naked woman riding the cigar mural, on the wall of the snooker room in Hotel du Vin. What better way to celebrate the launch of the book, which is picking up good reviews in Germany. |
